Why is this "multi-defense moisturizing cream" irritating my skin?

I starting using this expensive type of moisturizing cream yesterday, which is hypo-allergenic, and today parts of my face, especially on my forehead and cheeks are all red. I have these red patches and it looks like I got severely sunburnt. I noticed this in the morning and it is starting to dissapear, but my question is, is this normal? And is there some type of ingredient I should look out for?|||Keep in mind the hypo-allergenic doesn%26#039;t mean non-allergenic.

You must be allergic to some compound of that cream.

Red patches after cream application are not normal in any circumstance. Get rid of it.|||Retinol or Retin is used to help exfoliate dead skin cells. It can irritate your skin. Sometimes you can get used to Retinol, but you are also taking a chance to keep using it. I%26#039;d consult with my doctor before continuting to use it.
